And five generations…
It’s Mother’s Day here in the United States.
It’s DNA Sunday here at The Legal Genealogist.
So what else could I possibly do?
Yep.
Five generations of mitochondrial DNA, haplogroup H3g.
Me.
My mother Hazel (Cottrell) Geissler, 1926-1999.
My grandmother Opal (Robertson) Cottrell, 1898-1995.
My great grandmother Eula (Baird Livingston) Robertson, 1869-1954.
My second great grandmother Martha Louise (Shew) Baird Livingston, 1855-1909.
Happy Mother’s — and mitochondrial DNA — Day.

How wonderful that you have 5 generations of photos too! I’m jealous!
Which mtDNA company is best?
There’s really only one for genealogical purposes: Family Tree DNA. And if you test there go for the whole shebang: the full mitochondrial sequence.
