Nothing that can be said
This space has been dark almost all week.
The Legal Genealogist has nothing to say that can be said.
There are more than 102,800 men, women and children dead in America from COVID-19 — almost a third of the 365,500 deaths in the world to date.
It took four days for there to be an arrest in the George Floyd case despite video evidence. Only one of those involved has been arrested even yet.
And our cities are burning.
There is, literally, nothing I can say.
So this will have to speak for me.

It’s true. Murrica is imploding. 45 wants a police state.
I totally agree and I wish more white Americans would stand and express their outrage of this murder under the color of authority.
Do the laws concerning police action need to be changed to make these people accountable? And George Zimmerman walked free this week!
There may be nothing to say after being numbed by the flood of recent horrible events, but there is something that can be done. Go out and vote your values because you can count on those who do not share your values to go out and vote theirs. We need a definite change in direction in our country or we will surely lose our way.
“Rien du dire” as my Québecois friend said. I’m having to slide past US news these days, because I can’t influence it, can’t change it, can’t make sense of it, am appalled and sad in reactions to it – yet my son & his family live in Seattle. Worry about how they’re doing means I’ve been walking around with very tense muscles across my shoulders and back…
Please know you’re not alone. Virtual (((hugs)))
Judy, your post says it all. I share the outrage of the protesters, but violence will only distract our attention from the source of that outrage.
It goes far beyond outrage. And it has been far longer than this week. For black and brown people (and often others whose appearance does not reflect “privilege”), this week is another set of events that are always present, always potential. For white folks it is outrage, and I suspect, embarrassment, as it should be. But please understand that outrage does not begin to express what the black community experiences at the hands of people who take their privilege for granted. And those people are your white neighbors who do not think they are racist. Both the cop who killed a man with deliberation and the woman who used her whiteness to threaten a black man with accusations of assault because he asked her to leash her dog- both claimed they weren’t racist. So focus your attention on your own community and start dealing with the source. Start a community discussion about what is happening where you live that you might not even know about until you create a safe place for black and brown people to speak about their experiences. You might be surprised at the everyday nature of the violence they experience.
Here. Please read this, and try to find your place in it. This is a pretty good description of how to move forward from our nation’s cultural genealogy into a healthier place.

“Nothing to say” sums up an incredibly dark and deadly week in American and world history.
Thank you, Judy for posting this verse. These are words to live by everyday.
My thoughts and prayers are with the people of the USA during these unprecedented days of pandemic and turbulent civic unrest. May things return to normal, no, better than normal, for you all soon.

An unintended side effect of mass protest is to undo months of work by CDC to contain Corona virus.
Funny how nobody said that about the mass protests in support of reopening things because the virus was an overblown hoax…
Appropriate scripture, Judy. I’m sad & overwhelmed by all this.
Man’s inhumanity to man never ceases to amaze me. I suppose I should know better or be used to it, but I’m not.
