Mother’s Day 2019
It is and will forever remain one of The Legal Genealogist‘s favorite photographs.
Six women — a mother and five daughters — who all share my mitochondrial line.
From left to right, my aunt Marianne, my aunt Trisha, my grandmother Opal, my aunt Carol, my mother Hazel who was known as Totsy, and my aunt Cladyne.
Only one of them remains this Mother’s Day.
But my grandmother’s five surviving daughters (first-born Ruth died as an infant) had daughters who share that mitochondrial line. And those daughters had daughters. And those daughters had daughters…
The mtDNA lives on…
Happy Mother’s Day.
